Spend 5 days knitting inspired by the patterns and techniques we explore at the Vesterheim. We will receive a discount to the museum, talks from their Chief Curator, and private time in a classroom with samples.
We will bring original patterns and samples for a Cowl, Hat and Mittens, all inspired by our visit to the Vesterheim. We will also have "generic" patterns, which will allow you to "create your own" project, or follow one of our patterns.

We have rented a very comfortable retreat house across the street from the Museum (complete with classroom), and have built in free time to knit, explore the Museum, and the Decorah area.

About the Vesterheim
Vesterheim is the national Norwegian-American museum and heritage center, with over 33,000 artifacts, 12 historic buildings, a Folk Art School, and a library and archives. This treasure showcases the most extensive collection of Norwegian-American artifacts in the world.

Vesterheim’s exhibitions explore the diversity of American immigration through the lens of the Norwegian-American experience and highlight the best in historic and contemporary Norwegian folk and fine arts. USA Today named Vesterheim one of “ten great places in the nation to admire American folk art.”

They also house a collection of garments for everyday, special occasions, and occupational dress. Including: folk costumes, fashionable dress, children’s clothing, Norwegian sweaters and other knit wear.
